Remove hidden hardware from Device Manager

I used this trick when I had a old NIC card that was removed from a system without uninstalling. It still had DNS and IP information which caused problems. This was used on Windows 2000 and should still apply to XP.

Add the following system environment variable:
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
(reboot optional)

Open Device Manager
From the View menu select Show Hidden Devices

Locate your hidden hardware in device manager.
Right click
Uninstall
